Travel Tips
Below are
some helpful travel tips, courtesy of NautilusTours.com!
Your carry-on baggage is very important.
Now that some airlines have weight restrictions and all airlines have size
restrictions, be sure that yours is appropriate in these areas. Also be
aware that some aircrafts do not allow luggage with wheels to be put in
the overhead compartments.
What should go into your
carry-on? Certainly all medicine and medical equipment needed. Always a
good idea is to have an extra pair of glasses, extra batteries for hearing
aids, and copies of prescriptions for vital medicines. Cameras, film in
a lead limed bag, a set of underwear and sleeping garments also comes in
handy. So do a small Swiss army knife and a small flashlight. Think what
you would need if your checked baggage would be lost for a short period
of time.
When you travel overseas, it is
a good idea to have a photocopy of the information page of your passport
and any current visas. You might want to take a couple of extra passport
pictures just in case. Be sure and keep these separate from the actual
documents.
How is the best way to take money
to use on your trip? This really depends on you. Paying by credit card
will get you the best rate of exchange if your bills will be in a foreign
currency. If you plan to make most of your purchases by credit card, make
sure you have two credit cards with you. Sometimes one will be de-magnetized
and will be useless on the trip. This way you have an extra if needed.
If you plan to use ATM's to get cash in a foreign country, make sure that
you have a pin number, which will be recognized, in the countries you are
visiting. You can call your ATM bank to make sure. Of course; traveler's
checks will work perfectly well also. Think about having them issued in
the currency of the countries you will be visiting. This will alleviate
any charge of having them cashed abroad.
